When his parents managed the Mount L Hotel in North Dana, John was the bartender. At the time of his death, he was dating Mildred LaFord of Athol. Her sister, Bernadette, was dating John's younger brother, Perley, whom she later married. John died from purulent pericarditis at 22 years, 8 months and 15 days.
