Christened Adelord Napoleon, Dell was the second child of Frank and Carrie Simonds. He served in WWI with the 301st Communication Train HQ, attaining the rank of sergeant.
In 1919 he married Mary Grace Gingras of Gardner, MA. They had two daughters. Dell, a machinist by trade, was assistant foreman in the form grinding department of Union Twist Drill Co. in Athol at the time of his death. He was an instructor of the VFW Junior Drum Corps and was a past president of the Silver Lake PTA. He was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
While preparing for a vacation, he died of a heart attack.
