Obituary - Mercer County Chronicle
Mrs. Mary Schwieterman passed away at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Falke, 500 West North Street, at three o'clock last Saturday morning. She passed on well fortified with the last sacraments of the Catholic Church , of which she had been a steadfast and lifelong member. Mrs. Schwieterman fell several days ago and her death was due to complications caused by her fall. The deceased was born at Maria Stein June 24, 1847, and at passing was aged 82 years , 8 moths and 21 days. Her husband, Henry Schwieterman, preceded her in death six years ago last April. One son, Charles Schwieterman, preceded the parents in death seven years ago. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, namely, Mrs. Joseph Falke, of Coldwater; John, of St. Elizabeth, Missouri, and Frank, of Montezuma. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Meiring, of Zenz City, also survives. There are 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren living. All of her children, all of her grandchildren and most of the great grandchildren were in attendance at her funeral. Mrs. Schwieterman was a kind and loving wife and mother, an excellent neighbor, a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Holy Trinity parish and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. She was a regular attendant at church when her health would permit, and by her kindly and genial ways had made many friends who sorrow at her passing. She had made her home here for several years with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Falke who gave her the best of care following the accident which led to her passing. Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity church Tuesday morning with Rev. Louis H Yauss officiating at the Requiem high mass, assisted by Rev. Roman Schwieterman of St. Charles Seminary, Carthagena, and Rev. George Spaeth, of Celina. Burial was made at the St. Elizabeth cemetery.
