Violet Rosendahl, 102, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Jun 6, 2001 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility.
Visitation is Thursday, June 14 from 4-6 pm at Fjelstul Funeral Home & Friday, June 15 after 12 pm at First Lutheran Church, Decorah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 15 at 11 am at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Miller officiating.
Organist is Rev. Marion Miller. Soloist Ione Crawaford will sing "Behold a Host." Congregational hymns include "Tn the Garden" & "Lead on O King Eternal."
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Keith & Nancy Rosendahl; Brian & Carla Rosendahl; Donna & Norman Zimmerman; Daryl & Wendy Brickner; Beth & R.B. Melvold; Diane & Ken Munkel; Larry Peterson; & Craig Peterson.
Burial will be in Glenwood South Cemetery, rural Decorah. Fjelstud Funeral Home of Decorah is handling arrangements.
Violet Loven was born April 5, 1899 at home in Madison Township to John & Mary (Lystad) Loven.
She was confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church May 11, 1914, & attended rural schools of Glenwood township.
She married Alfred Rosendahl July 5, 1923 at First Lutheran Parsonage. He passed away March 2, 1966.
Before her marriage, she worked at the Aase Haugen Home.
Violet Rosendahl & her husband farmed in Pleasant Township until 1950 when they moved to Decorah. She then worked at the Green Parrot.
The family moved to Burr Oak Township for awhile, & then back to Decorah.
Violet Rosendahl became a resident of Oneota Riverview Care Facility June 3, 1995.
Violet Rosendahl enjoyed crocheting & playing cards. She especially enjoyed her family & friends.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Rose & charles Peterson of Decorah & Audrey Brickner of Maquoketa; a daughter-in-law, Arly Rosendahl of Decorah; a sister-in-law, Althea Loven of Waukon; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; & 2 great-great grandchildren.
Violet Rosendhal was preceded in death by her parents, John & Mary Loven; her husband, Alfred Rosendahl; 1 son, Virgil, Sept. 15, 1999); an infant daughter, Myrtle, Jan. 27, 1931; a son-in-law, David Brickner, Oct. 11, 1984; 6 brothers, Albert, Melvin [Adolph Melvin], Henry, Julius, Carl, & Ray [Roy] Loven; & 2 sisters, Anga Loven as an infant & Anga Saak.

Violet & Alfred had 4 children together: Virgil Alfred (1924-99), Myrtle Harriet (1930-31), Rose Alberta (1933-), & Audrey Joyce (1935-)
