WEST GREENWICH - Gail (Marcotte) Delmonico, formerly Gail (Marcotte) Breene, age 86, of Jamestown and West Greenwich, died at her home in West Greenwich on Saturday, March 18, 2023, just short of her 87th birthday of April 4, 1936.

She was a daughter of the late Leslie Marcotte and Dorothy (Remington) Marcotte and sister to the late Robert Marcotte. Gail is also survived by her brothers Thomas and William.

Gail was a devout Christian whose central life's goal, from a very early age, was simply to be a loving and nurturing wife and mother. She was proud to please her father and mother with her advance to Worthy Advisor, Rainbow for Girls. She graduated from Coventry High School during which time she assisted her father at his business Crystal Cleansers.

Gail married her high school love, Kenneth Breene, in 1955 who, after 37 very happy years and three children, was taken early to his heavenly reward. Gail worked some time during her marriage with her husband Kenny in his business, Mishnock Lace. She guided her children through various activities including Cub Scouts, 4-H and Sunday School. She was most proud of her sons' youthful advances in boy scouting and 4-H and her daughter's participation in Rainbow Girls and 4-H. She was also proud of their achievements in later years in Municipal Administration, Nursing and Education. Throughout their formative years and later, Gail most enjoyed her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Gail's interest in her community brought her to Kent Memorial Hospital where she volunteered for 9 years before being employed by the Hospital as the Gift Shop's co-manager for 9 additional years. Gail also served as Kent Hospital Auxiliary Board's Membership Chair for over 20 years. She had been an active member of Knotty Oak, Mapleroot, and, most recently, Still Water Christian Fellowship churches.

Gail was blessed with her three children: Kevin Breene (Charlene Randall), Karen Zarlenga (John Zarlenga) and Gregory Breene (Karen Cottrell Breene); eight grandchildren: Allison Medeiros (Robert Medeiros), Melissa Jordan (Matthew Jordan), Rebecca Breene, Brian Zarlenga (Chelsea Avery), Steven Breene (Tara Breene), Hillary Birtell (Porter Birtell), Morgan Breene and Lauren Bain (Zach Bain); seven great-grandchildren: Jordan and Tyler Medeiros, Kenzie Jordan, Sawyer Jordan, Kaylie Jordan, Jack Zarlenga and Remington Birtell.

Gail married Frank Delmonico, with whom she enjoyed 27 very happy years of married life. They travelled extensively and enjoyed their residences in both Jamestown and West Greenwich as well as a condo in Florida.

Gail's second marriage to Frank brought to her a second loving family, Domenic Delmonico and his wife Priscilla, their children David Delmonico, Bethany Boucher, her husband Scott, their children William and Ava, Mary Jean Jene, her daughter Nadine Pacher and her husband Chris, their child Sophia, Carolyn Buono, her children Anthony, his children Julien and Stella, Christina Buono, her children Sienna, Autumn and Isla, Ann with her children Alana Ellis, her husband Mike, their child Henry, and Gillian Cardarelli and Michael and his wife Deborah, their children Victoria, Nicholas and Ian.

Gail got to live her life as the devout Christian and nurturing wife and mother she always wanted to be.

Gail's funeral service will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Friday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a burial in Mapleroot Cemetery in Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Prayers and eulogy will be conducted by the Stillwater Christian Fellowship pastor and elder.
