Dorothy E. (Remington) Marcotte, a life long resident of Coventry, passed away very peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior in her 95th year, with her family at her side at Rhode Island Hospital on February 16, 2011. She was the wife of late Leslie J. Marcotte. Born in Coventry, RI she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Edith (Wright) Remington.

Dorothy and her husband, Leslie, were the founders of Crystal Cleansers of Coventry in 1946. Throughout their life they enjoyed many cross country trip by motor home, and spent over 25 years wintering in Florida. They traveled from Coast to Coast, including Canada and Mexico. Summers were spent at their summer home at Hill Farm on Johnsons Pond. Dorothy will always be remembered for having fresh baked cookies, and award winning apple pies on the counter. She was proud of her status as a 12th generation descendant of Roger Williams. Dorothy was a lovely, elegant, lady and was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed by all that were blessed by her presence. She was a member of Stillwater Christian Fellowship Church in Hope, RI.

Dorothy leaves her loving family, including her daughter, Gail Breene Delmonico, and her husband Frank of West Greenwich and Jamestown; her son Robert Marcotte her daughter in law Meredith of Coventry; Thomas Marcotte and William Marcotte of Coventry. She was the very proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Gladys Champlin, Helen Bartlett, Julia Delpozzo, Barbara Shaw, and Donald Remington.

A funeral service will be at the Carpenter Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Saturday, February 19 at 11:00 AM followed by interment in Woodland Cemetery in Coventry. Visitation from 5 – 8 PM on Friday. Should friends desire, donations may be made to Stillwater Christian Fellowship, PO Box 670 Hope, RI 028311.
