George Thomas Komatz, Jr, 81, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born on April 20, 1938, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late George T. and Margaret (Airhart) Komatz.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by son, Jayme Komatz; brother Ronald F. Komatz, Sr; and sister-in-law Donna Komatz.
He was a member of Divine Parish St. Michael's Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching western movies and Fox News. He looked forward to the monthly lunch gatherings with his classmates.
Mr. Komatz was proud to have served in the U.S. Marines and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a retired Vice President of the Granite State Bank.
Surviving are daughter Tina M. Komatz, Pomona, CA; grandson Matthew Komatz; wife Carmen Komatz; brother Dale Komatz and wife, Brenda, Frostburg; sister, Sally Knotts and husband Allen, Eckhart. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Monday, November 25, 2019, from 4-6 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Parish St. Michael's Catholic Church, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 11 am with Father Ed Hendricks serving as officiant.
