FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- George T. Komatz, 91, of Frostburg, died Friday, April 30, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1918, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Anton Komatz and Martha (Bollinger) Komatz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret R. (Airhart) Komatz of 72 years on Jan. 8, 2010; two brothers, Anthony Komatz and Francis Komatz; one sister, Marie (Komatz) Witt; one grandson, Jayme Komatz; one daughter-in-law, Donna Komatz. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Komatz was retired from Harbison/Walker Refractory in Jennings.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.

Surviving are three sons, George Komatz Jr., Pomona, Calif., Ronald Komatz, Eckhart, and Dale Komatz and wife Brenda, Frostburg; one daughter, Sally Knotts and husband Allen, Eckhart; seven grandchildren, Tina Komatz, Ronnie Komatz and wife Jackie, Doug Knotts, Jennifer Knotts and fiancé Kevin Zuzak, Randy Knotts and wife Arin, Margaret Komatz and Logan Michaels; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Ko-matz, Kira Knotts, Keely Knotts, Zoe Zuzak, Kacey Komatz, Emma Komatz and Kenley Komatz; two special friends, Kathy Ternent and Donnie Shingler.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Tuesday, May 4, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.

Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Komatz, Doug Knotts, Randy Knotts, Logan Michaels, Kevin Zuzak and Donnie Shingler.
