Miss Dora Reeves, 52, wife of R.W. Reeves of Blanket and one of the most highly respected and best loved woman of that community, died in the Brownwood Hospital about 6 PM Wednesday March 23. The funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Blanket, conducted by Rev. A. Woods, and internment was made in the Rock Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Williamson County, Texas, October 2, 1879, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. W.B. Mauldin. She was married to R.W. Reeves November 11 1896 in Comanche County, and had made her home in Blanket for the last 19 years. She joined the Baptist Church when she was 14 years of age, and all the rest of her life was a devoted and faithful Christian and church worker forgetting herself to work for others, and the betterment of her community.
She is survived by her husband and three children. The children are: Mrs. Joy Deen, Brownwood; Mrs. Derie Reeves, Menard; and Mrs Florence Reeves, Blanket. She is also survived by 12 brothers and sisters: Mrs. M.E. Barrett, Big Spring; Billie Mauldin, Lalez, New Mexico; John Mauldin, Canada; Virgil Mauldin, New Mexico; Mrs. M.J. Mayhew, Ranger; J.B. Mauldin, Rowden; Wesley Mauldin, Raymondville; Mrs. Luke Reeves, Blanket; Mrs. Derie Carnes, Blythe, California; Mrs. E.E. Boyd, Sylvester; Walter Mauldin, Sylvester; and L.B. Mauldin.
