GAITSKILL Miriam Coleman, passed away Oct. 12, 2006 in Houston, TX. She was born in Winchester, KY, the daughter of Ruth Gay Gaitskill and the late Thomas Henry Gaitskill. She graduated from University High School and the University of Kentucky, and after graduation, she worked briefly for Fayette County and the KY state government. In later years she worked as a medical editor for the Department of Surgery at the University of Kentucky Hospital, and for the American Board of Family Practice. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America in KY, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and a past member of the Junior League of Lexington. Aside from brief stints in New York City and Atlanta, Miriam lived her life in Lexington. She loved KY, and enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, farming, or swimming. She competed with Master Swimmers in Lexington and Atlanta, and in her free time she enjoyed traveling to beaches where she could swim and scuba.
