Mary Lou was born on July 21, 1927 in Cissna Park, the daughter of Louis A. and Mary Rose (Frank) Freidinger. She married Thomas William Conlin on September 19, 1949 in Bradenton, FL. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Art and Harry Freidinger; six sisters, Velma Schmidt, Viola Barth, Vera Yergler, Ruth Eberhart, Una Baier and Eva Newlin; two daughters, Mary Beth Conlin and Laura Marie Conlin; and son-in-law Robert Hofmann.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine Hofmann (Jim) Cox of Danville and her son Thomas (Wendy) Conlin of Goodyear, AZ. Also surviving are grandchildren Laura (Ben)Stein, Elizabeth (Brian) Peterlin, Emily (Josh)Birk, Lauren Conlin and Thomas Conlin; and great grandchildren Molly & Madelyn Stein, Jacob, Grace, Eli, Hannah & Caroline Peterlin and Daniel & Eden Birk.
Mary Lou was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka and Council of Catholic Women (CCW). She was a school nurse for many years in the Watseka School District. She was a former board member and volunteer of American Cancer Society, AARP, American Red Cross and Iroquois Memorial Hospice. Mary Lou enjoyed her grandchildren, flower gardens, reading and volunteering.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday March 10, 2023 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka at 10:00 am, with Fr. Michael Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Heritage Woods of Watseka and Hawthorne Inn of Danville for their compassionate care for several years.
Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Heart Association or St. Edmund Catholic Church.
