Sarah Wild Fisher is last seen in the 1870 Madison County, North Carolina census. She probably died between 1870 and 1875 when William Fisher remarried. Sarah is possibly buried in the same cemetery where William was buried in 1878, but no marker for Sarah is currently visible in that cemetery. There are no death or burial details on Sarah in the book by Larry Fobes. Her name sometimes appears as Sally.
