Johnathan "Juber" Blevins,
91, of Oneida, died May 16, 2001, at the Scott County Hospital. Born in Oneida, June 19, 1909, he was preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Mary Miller Blevins; his wife, Thelma Boyatt Blevins; one daughter, Alene King; three sisters, Temple Kidd, Nettie Stephens, and Almeada Watson; and four brothers, Sylvester, Wilburn, Harvey, and Reason Blevins. He was a longtime member and deacon at Black Oak Baptist Church. He is survived by one daughter, Clara Terry and husband, Kelly, of Oneida; one son, Prent Blevins and wife, Peggy, of Chattanooga; son-in-law, Paul K. King of Oneida; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two greatgreat-grandchildren, one brother, Arthur Blevins of Danville, Ky.; three sisters, Ola Blevins of Oneida, and Lula Hayes and Shirley Smith, both of Muncie, Ind.; and numerous other relatives. Funeral service was conducted May 18, 2001, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert King and Rev. Gene Bond officiating. Music was provided by Black Oak Baptist Church Choir, and Ronnie and Chuck Duncan. Interment followed in Smith-Forbis Cemetery. (Source: The Independent Herald, 24 May 2001, p16)
