John Teehee was born April 10, 1939, at home with his twin sister Joan, to Monroe and Kittee (Adkisson) Teehee in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was the 11th of 12 siblings, for which there were six boys and six girls.

Upon the death of his mother at age 8, he attended Seneca Indian School and then high school at Chilocco Indian Agricultural School, both in Oklahoma.

He served seven years in the Army National Guard, and attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where he connected with his future wife Jeanette, who also attended Chilocco and NSU.

They subsequently followed other Teehee siblings to the Sierra foothills of Northern California, eventually settling in Meadow Vista, CA. He worked as a draftsman and construction estimator until his retirement in 2004. He served as president of the Meadow Vista Rod & Gun club, as well as president of his local Masonic and Freemason lodge.

He then returned to live out his final years in his childhood home of Tahlequah, Ok, where he passed quietly and peacefully in his home on January 26, 2023.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was particularly proud to be a founding member of Flatiron Mountain Ranch in Colorado, a hunting ranch he purchased and developed with some of his closest friends. He hunted the ranch yearly for several decades without missing, and the ranch continues to this day. He will continue hunting and fishing with his friends in his next life.

He is survived by his two sons, John and Kevin, his remaining siblings Marion, Linday and Shirley, and his three grandchildren, Sweetwater, Clayton and Owen.

Funeral services for John will be held on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 at 2:00pm at Reed-Culver Chapel with Jack Reavis, Kevin Teehee and John Teehee Jr. officiating. Masonic rites will be given by the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #10. He will be laid to rest at Hendricks Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Teehee, Clayton Teehee, Tim Murchison and John Teehee. His honorary pallbearers are Marion Teehee and Marty Teehee.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the services beginning at 9:00am at Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
