Joan Teehee-Collins was born on Monday, April 10th, 1939 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Monroe and Kittee (Adkisson) Teehee. She was born a twin to her brother John, and was raised in a family with five brothers and four sisters, Lucian, Burl, Marion, John, Sequoyah, Vera, Nadine, Shirley and Linday. She attended school at Chilocco Indian School and graduated. The most important job in the world to Joan was being a wonderful mother to her children, Teresa and Eddy. She was a wonderful homemaker who excelled in her cooking, there was no fried chicken better than hers, her chocolate cake melted in your mouth and everything she cooked was from scratch. She was an accomplished seamstress and made clothing, dolls, pot holders, blankets and even a giant stuffed bunny for her Cole. She loved arts and crafts and making things with her hands. Joan could raise vegetables with the best of them. There was nothing better than a day fishing, then frying up the catch of the day and enjoying with her family. Joan loved animals of all types especially her horse and her canine companions, making sure every member of the family had a furry friend to love. She possessed a really big heart and a smile that would light up a room. She was never too busy to help someone in need and would do what she could to help her neighbors. Time spent with her family was always precious to Joan, and she treasured every holiday and weekend with her family she had. She was a spirited woman who never stopped trying, and encourage her family, especially her granddaughter Cole, to keep trying no matter what. Her health began to fail her and she passed from this life on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 in Tahlequah, OK. She was 80 years old and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Stephen and Frances (Riggs) Teehee, her Mother and Father, and her three brothers and one sister, Lucian Teehee, Burl Teehee, Sequoyah Teehee, and Vera Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son, Teresa Wells and husband Ike of West Palm Beach , FL and Eddy Hathcoat of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves two brothers and three sisters, Marion Teehee of Tahlequah, her twin brother, John Teehee of Tahlequah, OK, Nadine Armitage of Beggs, OK, Shirley Bacon of Boswell, OK and Linday Rayon of Jenks, OK. Joan lives on in her beloved granddaughter, Cole Wells of Los Angeles, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
