Her family moved from Delta, Clay County, Alabama in 1895 to the Barnesville Community of Marion County, Alabama. Later they moved to the Mt. Joy (Round Top) Church Community of Marion County, between Detroit and Hamilton.
Lomie and her sister, Sallie Mae Clifton Lewis, caught the train in Sulligent, Lamar County, Alabama and went to visit their Grandparents, John and Sarah Ashcraft Sims who lived in Delta, Clay County, Alabama. The COOK family was farming on the Sims place, there Lomie met Marvin Cook. Sallie Clifton Lewis came back on the train to Sulligent, leaving Lomie with their grandparents. Lomie and Marvin Stephen Cook were later married on Feburary 11, 1915 at John Sims residence, Clay County, Alabama. They lived on in Delta until the spring of 1916 when they moved to Marion County, Alabama and their first child, Marvin Cecil Cook was born August 1, 1916.
