Elizabeth was born January 1, 1786 in New York. According to Violetta Brown's Revolutionary War Pension application filed in 1857 by Walter Brown, Elizabeth married William Bowen in 1800.
They settled near Fort Erie and had seven sons and four daughters: William, Henry, Polly, Robert, Nelson, John, Hannah, Walter, Clarissa, Edward, and Barbara. Willam Sr. died 26 Mar 1860 and Elizabeth died 8 July 1875. They are both buried at Fort Erie.
The 1872 Atlas of Welland shows a William Bowen living on Conc. 5 next to a Robert Bowen just south of the Canada Southern and Glencoe Loop Line.
