Born Sept. 11, 1906, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of Bernard and Louisa (Moorman) Schwegman. On Jan. 12, 1927, she married Albert L. Knecht, and he died Feb. 22, 1996.
Mrs. Knecht was a homemaker. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greensburg.
Survivors include six sons, Donald A. Knecht, Brookville, Albert Knecht Jr., Greensburg, Marvin Knecht, Tega Cay, S.C., Dick Knecht, Greenfield, and Bruce Knecht and Jim Knecht, both of Shelbyville; three daughters, Carol Reed, Greensburg, Dolores Enneking, Oldenburg, and Marilyn Lanning, Brookville; one brother, Arnold (Mike) Schwegman, Franklin County; two sisters, Loretta Enneking and Dolores Hohman, both of Franklin County; 48 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
One son, Delmar Knecht, died in the same automobile crash in which she died. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Friends may call Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. at the Gilliland Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg. The rosary will be recited at 9 p.m.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. Steve Schaftlein officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Decatur County Hospice.
