Born in Inman on May 29, 1945, son of the late William Fred and Gertrude Sims Babb; loving husband of Jane Reeves Babb.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Government and Economics from Wofford College in 1967; was the co-owner of Service Paint Center, Inc., Boiling Springs, with Richey Foster, his long term friend and business partner.
A member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg where he served as a deacon, a teacher in children and youth Sunday Schools, and held various other leadership positions; also volunteered with his wife delivering meals for Mobile Meals.
Enjoyed spending time with his wife of 54 years, his children, and his grandchildren. He loved supporting all of his grandchildren in any and every activity they pursued.
If you knew Johnny, you knew that he never met a stranger, loved people, and people loved him. You also knew instantly that he was a man of faith who had given his life to Christ by the way he lived.
Also survived by daughters, Lori Babb Witt (Tray), Tracy Bab Brown (David), Mitzi Babb Bragg (Kevin); son, Brent Babb (Haley); brothers, Furman Babb and Paul Babb; sisters, Shirley Babb Nodine, Earline Babb Morris, Kathleen Babb Collins, and Ruth Babb Evington; eleven grandchildren
Also predeceased by four brothers, Alvin Otis Babb (1924-1991), Glyn Curtis Babb (1926–2017), Edward Lee Babb (1930–1998), George Everett Babb (1940–1967); and two sisters. Frances Louise Babb Paulos (1922–2009) and Mildred Babb Mawhirter (1928–2010).
Funeral services held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 23, 2021, at First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg with Dr. Michael Hamlet officiating. Interment services were private.
