Bernard F. Murphy, 81, of 20 Wood Ave., Cornwall-on-Hudson, died at the Castle Point Veteran's Hospital after a short illness. A veteran of the Spanish-American War, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Hilly City Pup Tent, Military Order of the Cootie. He was a retired painter. The son of Bernard and Catherine Lambert Murphy, he was born in Dublin, Ireland, on Dec. 7, 1880, and had lived most of his life In the Newburgh area.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Albert B. Beecaccio, Mrs. Galvin Sarvis and Mrs. Mary Bunt, all of Newburgh, and Mrs. Clayton Taylor of Cornwall; three brothers: Matthew, Christopher and Joseph Murphy, all of Albany; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from the James A. Lulves Funeral Home. Cornwall, and a Mass of requiem was offered at St. Thomas' Church. Interment was in St. Thomas Cemetery.
