Robert "Bob" Belland, 89, Bradenton since 1979, formerly of Flint, Mich., died May 20, 2007.
Memorial Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton. Arrangements by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes, 43rd Street Chapel.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Wilma; a daughter, Mary Jo Grogan of Anderson, Ind.; sons Robert of Manorville, N.Y., and Dennis of Rochester, Mich.; a brother, Garth of Ludington, Mich., and Bradenton; and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are son-in-law, Duke of Anderson, Ind., and daughters-in-law, Mary Kay of Manorville, N.Y., and Leigh of Rochester, Mich.
Bob graduated from Michigan State in 1940 and then served in World War II as a first lieutenant stationed in San Francisco working as a cryptographic officer. Bob started work at Chevrolet Motor Division and retired from General Motors after 40 years, serving as director of audit in the Asia Pacific region. He was on the board and treasurer of Spring Meadows Country Club in Linden, Mich., for 20 years. He was the "unofficial" auditor for Lincoln Hills Country Club in Ludington, Mich. Bob also was a member of the Bradenton Country Club for 24 years. Bob was an avid sports fan in all sports, and continued to follow the Detroit Tigers through his retirement years in Florida.
