Robert Leon Hansel, 70, Sullivan, passed away at Sullivan Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003.
Mr. Hansel was born at St. Clair May 6, 1933, the son of Eugene Benjamin Hansel and his wife Clara Belle, nee Hults.
He was united in marriage to Carla Flavia Wertich Oct. 3, 1959.
Mr. Hansel was raised in the Nazarene faith and several years ago accepted the Lord as his personal savior.
During his working years, he had been employed by Havin Materials and then with Meramec Mine in Sullivan for 14 years.
Mr. Hansel is survived by his wife, Carla Hansel, Sullivan; one son, Benjamin Hansel Sr., St. Clair; one daughter, Valerie Enke and husband Donald, Sullivan; four grandchildren, Holly Hansel, Union, Tabatha Lampke, Benjamin Hansel Jr. and Danielle Enke, all of Sullivan; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Tadarro, Union; one brother, Donald Hansel and wife Peggy, Lake Side, Calif.; three sisters, Kathryn Saling, Thelma Flora and Georgia Caldwell, all of St. Clair; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 24, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, were the Rev. Fern Nye officiating.
Memorials to BJC Hospice, Sullivan, are preferred.
The Hansel family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
