Leonard Weldon Tarpley, age 77 of Corpus Christi, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Leonard was born February 5,1944 in Bonham Texas, to Leonard Leon Tarpley and Nettie Lavern Wright Tarpley. He married the love of his life, Toni Brents Prudhomme on August 9th 1962 in Crane Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister LouAnn Kennedy, his brothers, Lenwood Tarpley Sr. and Ronald Lee Tarpley.

Leonard boxed at Crane High School and also fought with the Golden Gloves after returning home from the service. He served 3 years in the Army and 4 years in the reserves. He worked for Arco for 13 years and moved to Corpus Christi, TX in 1978 to work for Corpus Christi Petrochemical Company. In 1993 he took his first overseas assignment and he and Toni moved to Cilegon Indonesia for 4 years. He continued taking overseas jobs traveling to Doha Qatar, Uzbekistan, Chad Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Leonard and Toni enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and the World. Leonard was an avid reader and loved hunting and fishing with Toni and their girls. He also loved spending time and entertaining with his family and friends, he was spontaneous, fun, adventurous and the absolute best story teller.

Survivors include his wife, Toni Brents Prudhomme Tarpley, three daughters, Brigitte Tarpley and El Dona Cheree' Tarpley-Hager, of Corpus Christi, Toni Danielle Arredondo, of San Antonio; three grandchildren, James Weldon Hager of Everett, Washington and Mia Danielle Arredondo and Jake Ryan Arredondo of San Antonio. One brother Floyd Leon Tarpley of Crane, TX. Two sisters; Barbara Tarpley Leach of Crane, TX and Pamela Tarpley of Abilene, TX.

There will be a graveside service at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, located at 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410, Thursday April 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

There will also be graveside service at Crane Memorial Cemetery, located at 201 W. 6th St. Crane, TX 79731, Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Father Flanagan's Boys' Home.
