He loved a good church singing and would travel from Mora to just about anywhere to hear them. For several years he and his wife drove a school bus. Every year for Christmas and at the end of the school year he would give everyone on the bus a bag of fruit and a coke. He and his wife posted rules at the front of the bus and if you saw him looking in that mirror, someone was gonna be in trouble. He loved Horses. Old Tony was his palomino. He would get together with people on the loop and ride around the loop and over to his parents' home near Glass Window Cemetery. He was happy with life and lived it to the fullest. He would always say "I am doing good; I have retired three times." He enjoyed his little Miracle (dog). She followed him everywhere and slept with him. If Elbert ate, Miracle got the same thing. He will be missed by many and always loved. He loved his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Elbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Gwendolyn Cooley, brothers; Clarence (Doc) Stephens, Floyd Stephens, sister; Beatrice Profitt.
