Cedar Falls, Oct 7:--An inquest was to be held this afternoon into the death of David Savage, 73, of this place, who was killed by a Rock Island freight train as he walked along the right of way west of town.
The crew of the train was unaware of the accident which was discovered by trainmen on the passenger due here at 4:20, who saw the body lying near the track. Company officials here were notified and a freight running behind the passenger was instructed to being the body to Cedar Falls. Savage had been fishing Saturday afternoon and apparently was on his way home, picking coal along the right of way as he came. The train is believed to have sideswiped him, throwing him about 20 feet to the north of the track. The body is at the Brown Chapel.
Surviving members of the family, the residence of which is at 710 Walnut street, are the widow; two sons and three daughters; George and Gibson Savage; Mrs. Eleanor Peterson (Anderson); Miss Elsie Savage, all of this place, and Mrs. Frank Roberts, Des Moines.
