Jo was born on February 8th, 1939, though the birth year doesn't matter because she claimed her age was 40 from 1979 on. After graduating Elkhart High School she worked in several career types throughout her life to provide a loving and stable environment for her family. She was a waitress, a babysitter, store manager, hospital receptionist, and most importantly the cornerstone of her family.
As a young woman she enjoyed the country life of Elkhart, throughout her life she always shared found memories of growing up being raised by her "Granny" and the impact that the short life of her mother Christine played on her. She experienced the pain of losing her single mother at a very young age and her siblings being separated to be raised by other loving families. Although she carried this pain throughout her life, she never let it drag her down. She used her childhood experiences to keep herself grounded in the important things in life; family and God. She raised her children giving them all of the love that she had, she provided them before herself, she was strong, stern, determined, but also very forgiving and deserved more love than she received.
Jo left this world knowing that those close to her had full love of her in their hearts. Her smile, sense of humor, and her beautiful green eyes will be missed.
A graveside memorial service in Elkhart will be scheduled at a later date.
