"Ronnie was born June 17th, 1947, in Palestine, Texas, a son of Emmett Daniel Franklin and Christine Walling. He grew up in Houston where he graduated from high school. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Sam Houston State in Huntsville. Ronnie served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.
"On April 5th, 1969, he married Hilda Ruth Hill in Houston, and she preceded him in death on September 26th, 2003. He was a prison guard for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Jester Unit II in Sugarland for 12 years. He moved to Coleman in 1984 and was a truck driver. Ronnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.
"Survivors include a son, Les Cogdill and wife, Laurie, of Coleman; a daughter, Crystal Mitchell and husband, Gary, of Llano; six grandchildren, Dustin Dela Rosa, Shelton Cogdill, Cody Cogdill, Serenity Cogdill, Kilea Cogdill and Marcus Mitchell; six great-grandchildren, Dana Cogdill, Ethan Dela Rosa, Keira Cogdill, Easton Dela Rosa, Shanell Cogdill and Caiden Cogdill; thirteen brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
"He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister.
"Memorials may be made to any veteran's organization.
"Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas."
