Reading Eagle, Monday, June 15, 1953-Henry K. Dick, Retired Professor, Dies
Henry K. Dick, 67, retired professor of English at Columbia University, died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital. He resided here with a niece, Martha Dick, 800 North Third St., since his retirement in August 1952, after teaching since 1918 at Columbia.
He was a son of the late Henry DeTurk Dick and Mary Ann (Kissinger) Dick and was a member of First Reformed Church, Reading. Dick was a veteran of World War I.
Two of his most famous students are: Edgar Johnson, author of "Life of Charles Dickens" and Francis Steigmuller, writer for the New Yorker magazine.
Surviving are a brother, Frank K., Reading; a nephew, Carroll S., Reading, and two nieces, Mrs. Carl Flores, Philadelphia, and Miss Martha Dick, Reading school teacher.
Services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Miller Funeral Home, the Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Wetzel, officiating. Burial will be in Schwarzwald Cemetery.
