82, affectionately known as Buff, left this world on Nov. 4, 2016, surrounded by her immediate family at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, OH. Buff had a ready smile for all she met and a quick wit. She was raised in Shaker Heights and enjoyed skating at the Cleveland Skating Club. Some of her happiest memories were from childhood summers spent in Cooperstown, NY, where she had many adventures with her twin sister, Jane. Buff graduated from Muskingum College in 1956 and became an elementary school teacher at Glenbrook School in Euclid. She married in 1960 and retired in 1962 to raise her family. Buff volunteered at her children's schools. She was widely known for her excellent chocolate chip cookies. In later years she worked and volunteered at Geauga West Library in addition to knitting over 500 hats for newborns at Hillcrest Hospital. She enjoyed reading and inspired a love of reading in others. She also loved to travel domestically, visiting relatives and returning to her beloved Cooperstown, NY. Buff has been a resident of Russell Township since 1973 and is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, F. Gibson Head, Jr., better known as Kip. She is also survived by her son, George Head, of Russell Township, her daughter, Janet Roberts (Edward) of Kitty Hawk, NC, as well as her five grandchildren (Dennis Head, Margaret Roberts, Evelyn Head, David Roberts, and Max Roberts). Preceding her in death were her parents, George H. and Evelyn C. Acker, her twin sister, Jane Strachan, her brothers, Joseph Acker and Peter Acker, and her grandson, Samuel Head. Buff envisioned a heaven filled with flowers and family. She and Jane are reunited, hopefully having adventures and, occasionally, ice cream.
