He married Darlene Derr in 1946 in Arkansas. He later married Cathy Finch on May 31, 1968, in East Moline.
Mr. Rieger joined the US Navy in February of 1942. He was stationed on Midway and the Hawaiian Islands. He had worked for the former International Harvester, East Moline, for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling around the United States, including Alaska. He enjoyed gardening, playing horseshoes, cards, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include: his wife of 37 years, Cathy Rieger; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Dave Wayne, Rebecca and Steve Sloan, MaryLee and John Hazen; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken "Butch" and Janette Rieger, Ron Rieger, Tim Finch; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Foster and Lorraine King.
