Mrs. Emil (Inez) Meister, age 77, of Gary, passed away on June 6, at a Sioux Falls hospital. Mrs. Meister was born September 24, 1914 on a farm near Louisburg, MN, a daughter of William and Bertha (Sumner) Hinneberg. She grew up in the Louisburg-Odessa-Bellingham area and attended rural school through the eighth grade. She married Emil Meister on December 19, 1936 at Marietta, MN. They moved to a farm northeast of Gary in 1937 and in 1940 moved to Detroit, Michigan. In 1941 they returned to Gary and farmed until 1958. They lived in Gary for six years and then moved to Aberdeen in 1963 where she worked as a housemother in the girl's dorm at the State School for the Blind. They retired in 1981 and returned to Gary in 1984.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary and the Ladies Aid of the Church.
She is survived by her husband, Emil of Gary; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Mary Kay of St. Paul, MN; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Shelby) Hanson of Madison; Janice A. Rose of Denver, Colorado and Karen Ferguson of Canby, Mn; one brother, Loren Hinneberg of Odessa, Mn; five sisters, Mrs. LeRoy (Thelma) Hanson and Mrs. Lester (Jonetta) Kelly, both of Madison, MN; Mrs. Vernon (Elmyra) Kittelson of Correll, MN ; Mrs. Eugene (Elaine) Dahl of Dawson, MN; two aunts, Esther Fredrickson of Ortonville, MN; and Irene Bertness of Pipestone, MN; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and two brothers.
Funeral services were held on June 9, 1992 at 11 AM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary with the Rev. Bruce Mueller officiating.
