GLOUSTER - Frances Marie Hashman, 84, of Corning, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Jackson County, daughter of the late John and Mary Allen. [See note below] Frances was the widow of the late Avard L. "Babe" Hashman.

Frances was formerly the secretary of Hashman Roofing Company, a member of the Golden Wings CB club and formerly worked at the Nickels Bakery in Nevar.

She is survived by a son, John (Connie) Hashman of Corning; daughter-in-law, Judy Hashman of Glouster; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucy (James) Young of Jacksonville; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Post Sr. and Mrs. Helen Lee.
In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by a son, Larry Hashman; two grandchildren, Susan and Jerry Hashman; and two brothers, Morgan and Elroy Henry.

The Hashman family would like to extend a special thanks to Jessica McKee, Helen Lee, Brandee Whissen, Heather Partee and Carolyn "Red" Finn for their tireless love and care during Mrs. Hashman's illness.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main Street, Glouster.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at the funeral home with Pastor Ernie Eing officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Portersville, in Morgan County.

Note: Her parents were not John and Mary (McKenzie) Allen. John and Mary was her Uncle and Aunt. Her real parents were William and Margaret (McKenzie) Henry. William didn't want any daughters and therefore he didn't want Frances or her sister. Frances went to her Aunt and Uncle, who couldn't have kids. Her sister Lucy went to their grandparents, Joseph and Sarah (Caldwell) McKenzie. John and Mary raised her and she considered them her only parents.
