Peter P. Konkol of the Town of Grand Rapids, Wisconsin Rapids passed away late Monday evening at his home while under the care of St. Croix Marshfield Hospice.

Age 83 Peter was born August 7, 1938 in the Town of Stockton. He was the son of the late Peter S. and Dorothy (Trzebiatowski) Konkol. He attended local schools.

Peter entered the United States Air Force on January 10, 1956 in Milwaukee, WI. He served with the 4169th USAF Hospital. He was honorably discharged on June 24, 1958 at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.

His marriage to Loretta Gilmesiter took place on June 25, 1960 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Peter worked construction for many years before moving to Wisconsin Rapids in 1991. There he and his wife owned and operated the Camelot Hotel until his retirement in 2000. His wife Loretta preceded him in death in 2004.

In his free time Peter loved listening and dancing to Polka music and he even sponsored two free Veterans dances in one a Rookies ins Stevens Point and the other at Sherri-Land Ballroom in Rudolph in 2017 and 2018. He also loved deep sea fishing, and was very proud of his Sailfish he caught in Florida. Anyone who knew Peter knows he had the "gift of gab", and made those smile after meeting him. He will be missed at the Friday morning weekly breakfasts.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity would be appreciated.

Survivors include one sister, Elsie Bauer of Stevens Point, and his companion of many years Patricia Schocknesse of Wisconsin Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.
