Faye Pearson Owenby, 78, of Gastonia passed away November 3, 2023. She was born March 15, 1945 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Laurel Von Pearson and Irene Hawkins Pearson.
Faye worked for 32 years for Gaston County Schools. She loved her New Hope Elementary family and students. She was a member of United Baptist Church and never met a stranger. Faye had the best sense of humor and found a joke in everything. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Faye was "MawMaw" to many. She enjoyed playing softball and working in her yard. Faye loved any excuse to decorate and celebrate. The holidays, especially The Fourth of July and Christmas, were her favorite.
Faye is survived by her son, Scott Owenby and wife, Margie of Gastonia, NC; daughter, Angie Tyszka and husband, James; sisters, Stella Greene and husband, Joe, Darcus Rollins, and Florence Bridges; grandchildren, Haley Propst and husband, Corey, Christopher Tyska, Taylor Ross and husband, Chris, and Evan Owenby; and great-grandchildren, Mylie Propst, Paisley Propst, Kenton Propst, Hayes Propst, Wyatt Ross, Ivy Ross, and Harrison Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Owenby, and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at United Baptist Church from 2:00pm until 3:00pm on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at United Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Pennell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen - "A Quiet Place".
