Walter Roger Fetter, July 9, 1920 - January 5, 2008. Walt was born in Harmonville, PA, to Clara M. and John D. Fetter, the youngest of seven children. He proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the Army Air Corp. in the medical corps unit. On October 14, 1943, he married his sweetheart Esta S. Guinther. They resided in Lansdale, PA, until they moved to Tucson in 2000. Walt was a simple man who took pleasure in simple things: a good home cooked meal, shirts with lots of pockets, his family, his rustic mountain cabin and dogs. He considered his association with the Valley Forge Council, Lansdale Troop 61 Boy Scouts to be one of his life highlights. He served in various capacities with the troop and the Council. He smiled easily and enjoyed sharing jokes and stories. A man of conviction, he started writing letters to the editor of his hometown newspaper and his letters were often published. After moving to Tucson, he wrote fewer letters to the editor but turned to poetry to express his views and feelings. Walt is survived by his two children, Ric Fetter and Betsy Boorse (Rodney) of Tucson; two grandsons, Derek Boorse of San Francisco and Dr. Graham Boorse (Kristin) of Phoenix; and his two great-grandchildren, Alina and Emmet Boorse. He is also survived by a multitude of friends at the Cascades of Tucson, members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and those at Indian Ridge Residence. A memorial service for Walt will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Cemetery in PA., next to his beloved wife Esta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Carondelet Hospice or the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
