Dr. Coldwell Passes Away
Dr. Thomas Peyton Coldwell died at his home here at 4
o'clock Monday morning, February 26. Dr. Coldwell was a son of Andrew Forgy and Francis (Jones) Coldwell, and was born in Perry County, February 24, 1842. In 1843 the Coldwell family established their home in Laurel County and here most of the surviving members have resided.
Dr. Coldwell received his education in the Laurel Seminary and later studied medicine under Dr. J. D. Foster. In 1871 he graduated from Kentucky School of Medicine, Louisville, KY. He practiced the first 10 years in Manchester, Clay County, but since 1881 he has practiced in London until a few years ago, filling a career of 50 years in his chosen profession.
In 1878 he was married to Miss Mary Lincks, daughter of John Lincks. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive, one son having died at the age of 18 years.
Those surviving are: Miss Francis Lettie Coldwell, of Benham, Mrs. P. B. Evans, Mrs. James Williams, of London, Mrs. Carl
Skein, of Kentena, Miss Bessie Coldwell, of Tampa, Fla., and Thomas McCally Coldwell, of Los Angeles, Calif.
Dr. Coldwell was a member of the Christian church and his funeral services will be conducted at the Christian church Tuesday, February 27, at 10 A.M. by Rev. G. E. Chandler.
Services will be conducted at the grave by the Masonic Lodge of which he is a member.
