County Farmer Dies at Age 85
Harry O. Willard, 85, of Princeville, where he was engaged in farming most of his life, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at Methodist Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks after suffering a ruptured appendix.
Born Aug. 29, 1869 at Chillicothe, he was the son of Mortimer and Augusta Willard. He married Miss Ada Jacques who precede him in death several years ago.
A farmer near Princeville most of his life he also served as custodian of the Princeville schools until his retirement. Since then he made his home with his children.
He was a Past Master of Princeville Masonic Lodge, AF & AM; a member of the Woodmen's Lodge of Princeville and of Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Lena Clem of Louisville, KY., Mrs. Irene Simpson of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Bernadine Phillabaum of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son, Edwin of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nieces Blanche Swope of Chillicothe, Mrs. Bernice Manley and Mrs. Bernadine Leberton, both of Peoria ; four nephews, Frank Merrill, Lyle Merrill, both of Peoria, Orrin Phillips of Chillicothe and Edwin Phillips of Chillicothe and Edwin Phillips of Northhampton; and one sister, Mrs. Harry Merrill of Peoria. A twin sister, Mrs. Louisa Phillips, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Church in Princeville with Rev. Richard C. Mader officiating. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home this evening.
