Former Resident Dies In Peoria; Rites To Be Friday

Funeral services for William Hammer, 81, of Peoria, formerly of Princeville, who died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis hospital, will be held at 2 p. m. DST Friday in Bouton memorial home in Princeville.
Mr. Hammer formerly operated a butcher in partnership with his brother Fred. He retired a number of years ago and for the two years had been residing here with his daughter, Mrs. Forrest Kerwood, at 502 Gilbert avenue.
Born at Princeville November 13. 1869, he was the son of Henry and Emma Metzel Hammer. He married Cora Butler in Princeville February 11, 1888 and she preceded him in death here June 30, 1943.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Kerwood, Mrs. Pearl Nickels and Mrs. Ethel Poplette, all of Peoria and Mrs. Verna Maher of Elmwood; two brothers, Fred Hammer of Princeville and Charles Hammer of Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. Lilly Custer, Mrs. Della Koch and Mrs. Cora Harbers, all of Peoria; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Two sons are dead.
