Passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the age of 82. Les was born on October 30, 1939 in Horseheads, NY, the son of the late John B. And Genevieve Southard Hartman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jason; brothers, Joe, Ted, John, Bill, and Fred; sisters, Jenny Comfort, Emma Gardner and Clara McNeil; and son-in-law, Ron Samson. He is survived by his wife, Doreen E. Cleary Hartman; sons, Robert (Colleen) Hartman, daughter, Holly Samson; son James (Rachel) Alling; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Ernie (Shelia) Hartman; sister, Ruth Radford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends. Les served his country honorably with the US Army and retired from the Town of Horseheads DPW after 30 plus years. He worked tirelessly with the Horseheads American Legion Bentley-Trumble Post 442 for several years and wore several hats. He was also first vice for the Dept. of NYS. Les was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Les's Gravesite Services at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY with Military Honors, on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11AM.
