She was born on September 26, 1942, in Halifax County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Drew Richard Mitchell and Ida Brown Mitchell.
Faye is survived by her children, Lynda (Tom) Minke of Luray, Tina (Bob) Cunningham of Cuba, Mo., Joseph (Amy) Newsome of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Angela Newsome of Clinton, N.C.; her siblings, William (Diane) Mitchell of Tucson, Ariz., Nancy (Daryl) Padgett of Salisbury, N.C., John (Anna) Mitchell, Judy Adams, Barbara (Johnny) Shaw, Juanita Durant and Steve Mitchell, all of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mia G. Hancock; and a brother, Earl Mitchell.
Burial was private at Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) or other charitable organizations.
