Obituary MRS. OTTO (EMMA) BAER Mrs. Emma Baer, age 88, a longtime resident of Gary, S. D., passed away February 18, 1977 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake, S. D.
She was born November 27, 1888, at Balaton, Mn., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Loeck. She grew to womanhood at Balaton and on February 22, 1916 she was united in marriage to Mr. Otto Baer, of Balaton. They were married at St. Peter, Mn. She and her husband came to the Gary vicinity in 1922. They farmed in the Gary vicinity for many years before retiring into Gary in 1950. She and her husband entered the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake in 1972.
She was a charter member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church at Gary and was an active, willing worker in her church for many years.
She is survived by her husband Otto of the Good Samaritan Center; four sons, Walter, Rudolph and Erwin of Canby, Mn. and Arnold of Madison, Mn.; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving her are three brothers, Herman and Otto Loeck of Balaton and Henry Loeck of Sanborn, Mn.; one sister, Mrs. Martha Korn of Cleveland, Mn. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, and two brothers.
Funeral Services Funeral services were held Monday, February 21, 1977 at 1:30 p.m. from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church at Gary with Rev. Edgar Gieschen officiating. Musical selections were sung by Mr. Willis Loeck accompanied by Mrs. Elaine Gieschen at the organ. Casket bearers were grandsons, Michael, Roger, William, Douglas and Dennis Baer and Gordon Engesmoe. Burial was in the Grand View Cemetery at Gary. A family service was held in the church basement at 1:15 p.m.
