A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. \
Mr. Adams was born on September 13, 1947 in Sioux Falls, SD and lived the early part of his life there. He enlisted in the U.S Army in 1967 starting a career that spanned over 29 years. He was a 2 tour Vietnam Veteran where he served as a helicopter door gunner and ended his military service as a CW4 Helicopter Pilot. He also attained double Masters Degrees in Aeronautical Science and Business Administration at Embry-Riddle University while stationed in Arizona. Following his military service he was employed with L3/Army Fleet Support as a Standardization AH-64 Pilot/Manager until his recent illness.
Mr. Adams was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, past member of the State Executive Board of the Republican Party, past Chairman of the Dale County Republican Party, and former Mayor of Newton, AL in which he held office from 1996-2000.
