Edna graduated from Auburn High School and attended the University of Iowa and Northwestern University and studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. She majored in music and taught school in Goldfield, Iowa before marrying Ern Comstock in 1911. After their marriage she gave voice and piano lessons, and directed the choir at the Presbyterian Church. Edna and Ern had two daughters, Dorothy Ricke b. 1913 and Mary Florence Gray b. 1916. Edna was a victim of the Spanish Flu epidemic and passed away at home at the age of twenty-nine.
