His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Bishop Shane Buer officiating. The visitation will precede the service starting at 12:00 PM until the start of the funeral. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.

Dave was born May 12, 1947, in Pekin, IL and was adopted by Earl A. and Beneta B. (Saunders) Lawton.
He was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and attended Fulton High School. He received his GED from Clinton Community Schools. He served in the United States Army. Dave married Kay Foster on March 21, 1969, in Fulton IL. He was first employed at Allied Steel in Clinton, IA and then he owned and operated his own trucking business. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Donald J. Ashpole American Legion Post #1025 in Thomson. Dave was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved racing stock cars.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter and her fiancée; one son and wife; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents and two brothers, Randall D. and John R. Lawton.
