Beneta B. Lawton-Folk, 87, of Savanna, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Monday, February 10, 2014, at Mercy Living Center North, in Clinton, IA.
Beneta was born July 15, 1926, in Fulton, IA, to Orpheus and Mae (Vann) Saunders.
She was educated in the Fulton, IA grade schools and was a graduate of Maquoketa High School in Maquoketa, IA. She married Earl A. Lawton on June 5, 1954 in Tijuana, Mexico. He died March 15, 1996. She then married Melvin Folk on July 12, 1997 in Lanark, IL. He died July 9, 2004. Beneta was employed by Fulton Corporation until retiring in 1988. She was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Savanna, IL and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #363 in Clinton, IA. She enjoyed crafting, bingo and playing euchre.
Survivors include two daughters, Toni Lawton and Jeanne Thulion; two sons, Dave (Kay) Lawton and John (Jane) Lawton; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, Randall Lawton; one granddaughter, Bridgette Lawton; two grandsons, James and Willie Lawton; one sister, Trula Dalton; one brother, Cecil Saunders.
