Cremation rites have been accorded; there will be no visitation or funeral services. Interment will be in the Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany.

John was born June 26, 1949, in Pekin, IL, to Earl A. and Beneta B. (Saunders-Folk) Lawton.
He was educated in the Fulton schools in Fulton, IL. He married Jane M. Kilgore on June 5, 1970 in Fulton. He was an over the road truck driver for 33 years for various trucking companies and then retired in 2009 from Collis Company in Clinton, IA. John was a member of the 40 And 8 Society, a club for veterans. He raced stock cars in East Moline for seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; one daughter, Brandi (Keith) Raab; one son, Brendon (Heather) Lawton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Toni Lawton and Jeanne Thulen and one brother, David (Kay) Lawton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bridgette Lawton; one brother, Randall D. Lawton and his beloved dog, Peanut.
