Anna Mae was born on February 3, 1930 to Lee and Sylvia Thompson and was raised on her grandfather's homestead south of Wing. She attended a small rural school south of Wing, along with her two younger brothers, Stanley, and James. Her days were filled with helping with chores, milking cows, and seeing that her little brothers stayed out of trouble.
After high school Anna Mae married Russel Folmer and together, they raised five children on their dairy farm just a few miles south of where she grew up and where she lived up until her death. Anna Mae was a hard worker; she loved cattle and kids. In fact, many area kids who needed a helping hand came to live with them over the years. She was there to help guide them straight. Russel passed away in 1994 and Anna Mae continued the dairy farm for a couple more years. When asked why she continued to farm she simply said, "I loved animals, I loved farming."
After retirement Anna Mae reconnected with Quentin Gray at a school reunion and they later married in 1999. Together they enjoyed raising horses, dancing to country music, and searching the local shops to find the next piece of vintage glassware.
A beautiful face will age, and a perfect body will change, but a beautiful soul will always be a beautiful soul. Above all else Anna Mae had a beautiful soul and a strong faith. She knew something much greater awaited her and she welcomed the day the Lord called her home.
She is survived by her husband, Quentin; her sons, Russell (Donna), Wing and David (Donita), Bismarck; daughter, Pam (Warren) Geiger, Mandan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; both brothers and sisters-in-law, daughters and sons-in-law Connie and Ronald Dockter and Monica and Dennis Clow, and great-grandson Kaleb Geiger.
If desired, the family requests memorials be given to the Wing Public School to help support children in need or to a charity of your choice.
