Ex-Sheriff Uriah Tidwell, after an illness of several weeks with consumption, died at his home in Blountsville, on June 30th, aged 67 years and eleven months. The deceased was an excellent man in every relation of life. He served the people of his county in the capacity of Sheriff from 1884 to 1888, and was a member of the board of Registrars of Blount county at the time of his death. He made an excellent officer and was always found at his post of duty.

To the bereaved mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters we extend sympathy. The interment took place on Sunday at Tidwell’s cemetery in Concord beat, conducted by the Masonic lodges of Blountsville, Cleveland, Locust Fork and Oneonta; also Oddfellows from the same places.

Mayor H.C. McPherson, Rev. S.C. Allgood and wife, Messrs. Ed Graves, John H. Donehoo, Julious Nation, Elisha Hyatt, Elijah Lowry, and the “phat” local of Oneonta, attended the funeral of Mr. Uriah Tidwell at Tidwell’s Cemetery.
