Austintown Center - The funeral of John M. Mayer was largely attended by many sympathizing friends. He had been in failing health for several years and more recently, at times, been in a very discouraging condition. Life, as it is ordinarily spent among, had few pleasures for him, because of his sufferings. He was a man much respected for his honor and noble principles, and before his health failed him, he was a leading member of the Evangelical Church, esteemed by all for his noble Christian qualities and upright, consistent life, but sickness had hold on him, and on Monday he was consigned to his last resting place.
Burial – 16 May 1887
