"Mrs. Pauline Russell, 70, widow of Thomas R. Russell, Austintown township, committed suicide last Thursday afternoon by hanging from a beam on the porch of her home. Despondency because of poor health is given as the cause. Mrs. Russell, despite her years, was about the farm as usual and the day before her tragic act is said to have assisted in the threshing of the wheat at the barn. Her husband died in 1907. Surviving are four children G. O. Russell, Fred Russell, Robert Russell and Laura Adeline Russell of Youngstown; Henry Mayer, Massillon, John M. Mayer and Fred Mayer, Canfield, Mrs. W. M. Webster, North Jackson, and Miss Anna Mayer, Youngstown, R. 5, and Mrs. E. J. Creed, Youngstown, R. 5 are brothers and sisters. For 65 years the home had been in Austintown township. Funeral service was conducted Saturday from the Williams funeral parlors in Canfield with Rev. Charles Lang of the Reformed church in Austintown, of which she was a member, in charge. Burial was made in Smith's Corners church cemetery."
